FAXCOM Fax Server for Windows

The FAXCOM Fax Server for Windows is the central component of Biscom's enterprise fax server solution. The FAXCOM Fax Server runs the Windows 2003 OS, Biscom's FAXCOM Server software, and Cantata Technologies Brooktrout-series fax boards or host-based fax software. Outbound faxes are submitted by users and applications to the FAXCOM Fax Server, where they are translated from native file formats such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe PDF, and HTML to a TIFF format for fax delivery. Faxes received to the FAXCOM Fax Server can be converted from their TIFF format to Searchable PDF prior to routing. The FAXCOM Fax Server solution supports the Microsoft Vista operating system and integrations with the latest Microsoft applications, including Office 2007, Exchange Server 2007, and SharePoint 2007.

Fax Over IP

The FAXCOM Server software application supports real-time fax communications over IP via the T.38 protocol. Using the T.38 protocol, faxes are sent and received in “real-time” over an IP network. The over 100 million fax machines worldwide communicate over the PSTN using the T.30 protocol for fax communications. As organizations consolidate voice and data traffic onto their own IP networks, demand for Fax Over IP has increased. The FAXCOM Server implements T.38 using Cantata's Brooktrout TR1034 fax boards and SR140 host-based fax software.

SharePoint Integration

Microsoft SharePoint 2007 is an integrated suite of server capabilities for enterprise search, collaboration, content management, forms-driven business process facilitation, simplified information sharing, and enhanced business intelligence. Biscom’s document delivery solutions integrate with SharePoint to enabled it to act upon delivered documents.

Received faxes are another form of “content” that can be delivered to and acted upon by SharePoint.

  • Faxes arrive as TIFF images and are converted by FAXCOM Server to Searchable PDF files
  • Received faxes with searchable content are then delivered to SharePoint Document Libraries
  • SharePoint indexes and stores received faxes and can also initiate a SharePoint workflow process

Additional SharePoint integrations include:

  • Using SharePoint Site Aggregator to provide access to FAXCOM Web Client for users to send, receive, and track faxes
  • Using SharePoint Site Aggregator to provide access to Biscom Delivery Server site for users to send, receive, and track delivery of large files and secure messages
Advanced Fax Routing and Image Indexing

Biscom provides several software applications for secure document delivery, including our Image Indexing and Advanced Fax Routing applications. Image Indexing is a workflow application that enables businesses to review documents -- such as received faxes, scanned paper documents, and electronic files, to capture document data to a searchable database, and to route documents through roles-based workflows. Advanced Fax Routing is a document routing application that provides a rules-engine for routing documents to users, applications, and network applications based on information captured via OCR and barcodes, business rules, and queries to network resources.
